All the support you need to write the book you want

Book Coaching:

Here's How

It Works

A book coach is your professional guide through the process of writing your book and preparing it for publication.

As your coach, I see that:

  • We set and keep to a realistic writing timetable

  • You have a thorough understanding of your book, your reader, and your book's market before you write

  • You organize your content in a way that most powerfully delivers your message to readers

  • Your manuscript meets industry standards for formatting and style, so publishers regard you as a professional

  • You're educated as to your publishing options and know your next steps

  • We work chapter by chapter—you write, I edit—so you don't waste time on a bad first draft that needs a complete rewrite. Working with me, when you type "the end," you'll have a polished, properly formatted manuscript ready to shop to a publisher or to self-publish.

The coaching process begins with a conversation. Together, we determine where you are in the writing process, where you'd like to go, and when you'd like to get there.

Then, I create a proposal that fully explains how we'll work together, what you can expect from me, what our responsibilities are toward each other, how often we'll meet, and the fee.

If you like what you read, we sign a contract and our work begins. Everything between us, of course, remains completely confidential.

FAQ About

Book Coaching

What's the difference between a book coach and a ghostwriter?

With a ghostwriter, you have the ideas, the ghostwriter does the writing. With a book coach, you have the ideas and you do the writing. As your coach, I provide direction, structure, accountability, constructive feedback, and intensive editing as you write your book.

Who uses a book coach?

People who want to do the actual writing of their book themselves but want professional guidance throughout the process. Also, in my experience, people who are serious about finishing their manuscript and getting published.

How long will it take to finish my book?

That's up to you. However, as your coach, I can help you set a realistic timeline and provide accountability. The one thing that's for sure, a good coach will save you time and make your process more efficient.

How much does a book coach cost?

The best way to get a firm price is to email me so we can set up an appointment to discuss your exact needs.

Can you help me find an agent or publisher?

Yes. I can provide you with a professional book proposal (mandatory) and create a pitching strategy for you—complete with a list of agents and publishers likely to be interested in your book.

Can you help me self-publish?

I can make sure you have a complete understanding of the process and your options (there are a few), and guide you to resources that offer the level of support you want should you choose to self-publish.

More questions?

Email me at beth@bethbrand.com, and we'll set a time to talk.

"When I decided to write a book, I had no idea of all that's involved. (FYI: It's a lot.) Beth guided me through each step with skill and ease. When it came time to publish, I was confident in the quality of my manuscript. And now, I'm so pleased with my book and readers' reaction to it. I never could have made it happened this well and efficiently on my own. If you're getting ready to write a book, do yourself a huge favor, call Beth. Now.
