FAQ About About Publishing & Platform Building
Should I shoot for a traditional publisher or go the self-publishing route?
That's a big question. The short answer is it depends on your goals for your book. I can help you explore your options, and weigh the pros and cons of each form of publishing.
What is a platform? And when should I start building it?
Believe it or not, you start building your platform before you finish your manuscript. When shopping for an agent or traditional publisher, being able to show there is a waiting audience for your book is paramount. If you are self-publishing, you want to build buzz pre-publication to ensure a great launch.
Do I have to build a platform?
If sales of your book are important to you, you do. If sales aren't important, you don't.
How much does all this cost?
The cost depends on the scope of your plan and how much of the work you want to hire out and how much you want do yourself. Together, we can discuss all the options and then create a plan that meets your goals for your book and stays within your budget.
